Gary Short is a retired partner in the international law firm, Jones Day. He was previously a partner in Vinson & Elkins, and Akin Gump. Gary was selected by his peers for inclusion in “Best Lawyers in America” (in Employee Benefits) for 20 straight years.
Gary completed his undergraduate work at Colorado College and Grove City College. He also finished the course work and comprehensive exams for a PhD in Economics at the University of Virginia, and went on to receive his law degree from the Law and Economics Center at the University of Miami (where he was an Olin Fellow). Gary also earned an LLM in Tax from Southern Methodist University.
Gary grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where he was an Eagle Scout. He and his wife, Genie, have been married for over 40 years, and have three adult children. Gary is an avid tennis and racquetball player, and has had a life-long interest in classical liberal thought.
