Somali militants appear to claim responsibility for Uganda bombings

The leader of a Somali Islamist militant movement said in a website posting Monday that Uganda would be targeted for retribution over the “massacres” perpetrated against Somalis — an apparent claim of responsibility for three bombings that killed at least 74 people in the Ugandan capital Sunday.

Iran Claims To Have Produced Large Batch Of Nuclear Fuel

Showing its defiance to key world powers’ call for suspension of its ambitious nuclear program, Iran on Sunday claimed to have produced some 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of 20 percent enriched uranium. In a statement to media, Iran’s atomic chief Ali Akbar Salehi said that Tehran was also in the final phase to produce fuel plates, which are required to power a nuclear reactor.

BP Nears Installing New Cap

HOUSTON—BP PLC plans to install a new sealing cap Monday morning that could contain all of the oil spewing from the well as part of the U.K. oil giant’s latest effort to the stop leak in the Gulf of Mexico, the company’s chief operating officer said.
